Several on this thread seem to think that something equivalent -- or even better -- will somehow be discovered by someone and all of our problems will be solved. They are a little short on the specifics, though. Not likely.


Every technological revolution since the dawn of time was "unlikely" a generation before it was found. Cavemen sat around and complained about carrying everything by hand...and then one of them came up with the wheel. They complained about pushing everything around on a wheelbarrow...and then one of them put a saddle on a horse. We will complain about running out of oil...until someone figures out how to extract more of what we already have and/or find another source of energy.

I have no idea what that source will be, but I'm betting on cats. We will never run out of cats.
