Subject: RE: April 21

Aplington , Iowa
I tend to agree Dave. I have had corn that has gotten nipped by frost, never enough to replant. It may happen some day, but hasn't yet.

I have been burned way more by planting too late. I mean no disrespect to Jim's April 21st date, but I've seen others, including myself, wait for that magical date, only to see that date be accompanied by a week to ten days of rain. Then, we are two weeks late and that hurts yields too.

Planting before the frost free date is a risk to be sure, but 'here', it has proven to be a risk well worth the taking.
