Folks are focusing on soil temperature. Sure you can get soil warm enough to germinate and get that growing point up and out of the ground - so a late frost can get at it. In northern Ilinois the safe corn planting date is April 21 from a frost standpoint. Every day ahead of that is gambling with lower and lower odds in your favor. On one hand you may get lucky. On the other hand you better get started soon so you have time to do it again. Jim at Dawn
