Lapel, In
Wiki is wrong this time ,Pa.. There was a new Gulf station built in Castleton,In. in about 1957 or 1958 and they had a presence in Indy quite a bit before that. Heard a friend brag on Gulf products in the mid 50s as I recall. By the time the station was built in Castleton, Gulf had dropped the Good Gulf advertizing campaign(at least here). They had some great multi viscosity oil. Came in a purple can. Can't remember the name at the moment. Maybe Gulf Pride ?

Anyone remember the old credit card books that predated the plastic ones ? Were punched so they could be read by a data processing machine. Customer filled in the amount and signed them. Then tore them out of the book. I worked in a Pure Oil station in 1957 and that was their answer to the credit business.
