the EZ-Guide + updates the EZ-Steer at 5 Hz, and the EZ-Guide 500 updates the EZ-Steer at 50 Hz. that is why the EZ-Steer needs different firmware to talk to either unit. In addition, the 500 requires the EZ-Steer to have T2 installed. The result of the 50 Hz update and the better utilization of the T2 gyros, the steering accuracy is (generally) better with the 500.
