| This is broad generalization, but a high percentage of homos (I like that word better than gays for some reason) don't have families, kids and tend to be well educated and employed at high paying jobs - at least the activist types seem that way. I'm sure these companies are not completely thinking "man we really got to promote more homos", but as said earlier, they spend money in prime time to get exposure, companies like Ford think they are getting on the 'correct' side of an issue to attract business, and it's possible they want to get some of that homo money.
Frankly, most of know homosexuality doesn't work out, but it's no big surprise it's happening - just read the Bible. I'm not sure we are in the end times, but we keep moving towards it.
