I am at present using a Miller 250 amp stick welder. My question is would I save an appreciable amount of time in bigger projects where I now would use a 5/32" 7018 rod for continuous welds on 3/8" and thicker? I realize, no chipping in multiply passes would save time but can you speed up weld time with 250 amp MIG vs 250 stick?
Many projects are repair with some not so desirable welding surfaces. Now we will prep by grinding or wire brush as needed. Would this be fussier with MIG?

How is overhead welding with MIG versus stick?

Is stinger length limited and compromised because it is harder to push wire the longer the distance?
