We went full 480...... most the cost was in transformers....   Of which I found out it is illegal for us to own, so apparently its a one lifetime lease.  If anything goes wrong, its REA's responsability  (no cost to us).....    I found that odd, but pleasing.

Converters have worked flawlessly here on our farm for well over 25 years..... Downside is capacity for future growth.

I'd check with your electrician and your power company.....  Sometimes they don't communicate too well.
