Hawesville, KY | I've got a broken output shaft in the gearbox. Called JD to order new shaft, no problem for $460. Two days later I get a call from the dealer. The shaft has been discontinued, because they break too easy. I said fine, get me a new gearbox. Well, it gets worse, you see the new gearboxes are ratioed differently, so I need both gearboxes. So I ask how much that'll cost and guess what, he has more good news. Since they updated the shaft in the geabox, my stump jumpers no longer fit and I need two of them too. So for $3200 I can fix the problem. If anybody knows of a junk mx8 with a good gearbox or a salvage yard for bushhogs please let me know. And by the way, and I know it was my fault because I didn't do it, when your cuttter sits for a long period of time loosen the slip clutch and slip the clutch pads to make sure they're not seized.
