Subject: RE: More PF3000 questions/ Cables

SEQ, Australia
With the PF3000 you do all the field setup on the console - where press the FIELD key twice and where it says "Create New Field" , use the left/right/up/down arrows to set the characters for your field name, then press ACCEPT. Once done, you press the Up arrow to make the F1 change to F2 and name your next field the same way.

You can do the same with the loads for each field as well.

The PF3000 stores it's data in a semi proprietary file format depending on the Operation mode - .pfl files for Cotton Yield and .yld files for Grain Yield. These will be created automatically each time the display is switched on generally and will be date coded (ie: today's file will be 1102181 - 18/02/11 and the 1st version of this file name). If you shut it down during the day for an hour or so it will create a new file called 1102182 etc....

These files will then be copied from the card to your computer manually and then imported through SMS or FarmWorks etc and processed to extract the yield data.

If you have the AC Plug with the 25pin console connector on it you can plug it in on your desk at home and do all the field setup there, as well as putting in the calibration weights before you download the card to make sure that the information is as accurate as possible before putting it into SMS/FarmWorks etc. Just saves some messing around trying to alter the data once it is imported to the software program.

I don't believe the PF3000 had a direct interface option to the computer, but the YM2000 & AFS2000's did.

Other than formatting the card on the computer, there is no real setup required to use it - just put it in the screen and it will create it's own file structure once you turn it on.

AVOID TAKING THE CARD OUT WHILE THE SCREEN IS SWITCHED ON!!! Very important as it can corrupt the entire card and will certainly stop you from completing the days log file correctly. There is no real internal memory on the PF3000 - all your GPS logging data will be on the card. If you run it without the GPS it will still show the data on screen, but you will only be able to download a summary from the card - no yield points.
