Subject: Outback Baseline vs. other RTK

Leesburg, Ohio
Demoed a Baseline with our existing Outback eDrive the other day doing striptill. Seems to have taken out all the drift that we see when we stop for a few minutes and then start up again. Not sure how much accuracy it has added on a continuous pass-to-pass basis yet...need to do some measuring. There is no mapping capability that I am aware of with this unit the way we are set up.

My question is : 1) How does the baseline differ from other RTK technology? I understand it is one-way communications. What does the two-way communications of regular rtk accomplish. And 2) if there are repeatability issues because of no mapping with the Baseline vs. "real" RTK, can't we just reset the A-B line when we come back for the next operation (plant/sidedress/harvest), and still be "spot-on?"

I hope the dealer will have some of this info when we talk to him again...just wanted some "independent" info.

Thanks!
Ken
