Kentucky | Thanks! I knew it would take someone from across the pond to get good information. Hardi does well here, but only in some smaller areas and I'm not in one of them. Most of my area is self propelled or low cost pull types. Hardi makes great products but most don't see the value of the extra features and the durability and performance of the unit. We have never had one of the larger, better dealers take on this line so my biggest problem is the distance to my dealer to get good resale on my sprayer and service if I have an issue.
I think the Hardi 5500 is the "JobCom" from what I've read. I was hoping that only the cable was necessary ($45) since I didn't want to do variable rate, but swath control only. It looks like the unlock for variable rate is $750. This looks to be a fairly quick payback if it's $795 to get it done. Based on several models I conservatively figure to save around $4000 per year in chemicals and liquid fertilizer.
