I think the chip sealed roads would be fine for light traffice but they don't handle the weight of semi's very well, at least not where there are freeze/thaw cycles.



"Here" a road that is chip sealed immediately gets a 5 ton (per axle) load restriction YEAR AROUND. The roads stay in great shape...because nobody uses them. A spread-axle trailer, legally loaded will rip that crap right back down to the gravel in a turn.
