Lincoln County. NC | 16x16 transmissions have the "drop box" integral to the transmission housing, but IIRC one can pull the output shaft and clutch cluster right out. Before you go into full-blown panic mode, check the driveshaft and couplers. I have seen more than one coupler failure, and at least two PowerStars with splines on the front axle pinion shelled out. Might not explain the drive in F and problems in R, but it is a place to start. If the driveline checks out, I'd look forward before looking at the clutch/rear drive train. | |
