Were looking at skids now too.     You run tracks, and a thread down below said something about tracks not being a good choice for farms.  We run a LX885 right now, and for years thought it was the only way to go.....then I sat in a CAT (Agboy was right)

We put maybe 200-250 hrs a year.   Half snow removal, some dirt work, some gravel, will be making trails this summer through the woods (lots of em)......  Ya know i'd take tracks over anything, but for some reason am thinking a wheeled machine with throw over tracks might be a better choice......

 Why do I think that?

Salesman said he had two different guys trade in D3's for the big Cat skids.  Said they'd move the same amount of dirt?

So if you had to replace your CAT, would it be another CAT?

 Thanks.

Yes, Dealer service, free updates (if needed) and reliability of the machine. Ziegler does an outstanding job.

If you are going to be working in woods/thickets - some type of track will be neccesary, otherwise several spare tire assyemblies. lol  Tracks are fine for around a farm. Maybe not a sloppy livestock farm (I could see the merit of a wheeled machine there), but cleaning the ASV tracks aren't that bad. A couple minutes. I've even hosed them down during the winter. The ASV tracks work great for snow. I believe they have better traction then skidsteer tires (working next to one today and I could out work him 2to1 - due to traction. Part of the deal with the ASV track assyembly is the heat generated by the hydraulic motor lines. So knock the mud/snow off from around it and move it a few times before it freezes up. I point the infrared heater toward them and the snow melts out quick in the shop, this season. Nice thing about my Cat is I can stack snow - drive right up the pile and keep pushing. I got talked into cleaning a drive about 1/3 mile away (across country), so far, I just head out across the field and through the woods. Kind of like a twin track snowmobile . ..  lol
