NW Washington | The state usually does not want to pay any fraudulent unemployment insurance claims, at least the state of Idaho of which I am most familiar.
So if this dude was fired for "cause," or quit the job on his own, then he should not get any benefits and probably won't get any money. This can sometimes get sticky as to what is legal "cause" for firing some one.
I don't know about your state but in Idaho most farm workers are not covered by unemployment insurance anyway. Do you pay into the state unemployment insurance program?
