I don't know if I can.....

I gave up on the FW Surface design right off the bat after the FMX locked up twice trying to lay my first main.  I figured it to be the amount of topo points across the field causing me problems.  I'm not sure if the section lines had topo data to them too or not.  I couldn't figure a way to get just the background of my design to show without the points so I started a new blank field that resulted in no data for the field.  I then just logged a section line, designed parameters, and installed.  This is not the method I intended to use, but allowed to plow to keep moving.  After accumulating 20-30 lines though....things slowed down.  Maybe this isn't what you asked....I tried though.

I'm curious on more specifics you use to make the FW Surface work though.  How much data/lines do you load for the day?  If I could just get a background image with no survey data I would be remotely pleased.  

Do you know where I can get a clean V4.0 downloaded since the V4.0 I have will not load/update?
