NE ND | I must agree with some of the other guys........I don't believe oil brand means squat. Sure, if you want to spend an arm and a leg on Mobil 1 you might be getting a little longer life, otherwise I've always ran the cheapest oil on the shelf, switching brands all the time. The only filter I usually don't buy is Fram due to the cardboard ends, but I'm sure if you changed those also at 3000 miles they would be fine in something like a passenger car. I have ran lots of Pennzoil over the years when it was on sale. I have a 2wd gmc with a 350 that is approaching 200K that had piles of pennzoil through it. I've had the valve covers off a couple of times and things are clean as a whistle. I feel the pennzoil thing is all phooey. If you change the oil and filter at 3000 miles life will be fine. I live several miles from the pavement. My cars see so much gravel and washboard, most other things on the car are completely shot before the engine these days. My folks a few years back took their 98 Buick Lesabre to Midas for a muffler repair, the guy walks out and says, wow, you must drive some gravel, the stones ate the exhaust pipe in the middle of the car down to almost nothing. | |
