Subject: Re: Geo Thermal cost!- Got quote.

Southern Illinois
I have a 2000 sq ft home that has a high seer AC and gas furnace with a triangle tube gas boiler to heat domestic water and floor heat for the basement. My total electric bill in the winter is around 100 a month and 150 in the hottest summer. I use about 700 gal of LP a year ($1200). I just couldn't see how geo would pay when the people I know with it still have a 80-100 electric bill. The prices I found three years ago were all over 20000, I have about 10000 in my system since I did most of the work myself. I agree it is better for the enviroment but the farmer I used to work for had one put in around 1998 and from 2001-2007 that I was there a service guy came out atleast twice a summer because the ac wasn't working. It was always a $400 controller. I know these systems have gotten more reliable but there is only 1-2 contractors that act like they know what they are doing with geo in my area.
