I've been doing the same thing for over 10 years. I always figured we might need to reload the data into a new program someday. I believe that in Apex v2.5 or 2.6, Deere added the "browse...." option to the dropdown box where you select your drive to unload. I know that it didn't used to be there, so I would have to do what Kevin suggested and copy the directory back onto a thumbdrive or data card.
