SC Iowa | Tara Farms.....that plant in Benson had a completely different business model than what we see in the industry today.....the investors were obligated to deliver X amount of bushels per share---no matter the price of corn---which pretty much absolved the plant of having to manage the risk of the corn side.....today, most plants built in last 5-10 years fall into the "merchant" category....ie; they buy corn in the open market to run their business, thus have all the risk of the corn they are purchasing.... | |
