Subject: soybeans as cover crop

KS/MO
I have some soybeans burning up in the heat and drought. They're mid chest high and I thought they might make a good cover crop for the wheat I'm planning to plant in fall. How do I go about turning this into a cover crop? I'm assuming I need to kill the beans. What do I use to kill RR beans ahead of wheat? Also do they need to be killed while they still have their leaves or wait a while?
