Jim in the past we have used wheat and or cereal rye. The rye has to be watched very closely that you do not lose too much moisture and the wheat we did have issues with army worm and of course you need a GOOD MARKER for your guess rows!!! I still liked the wheat the best for the soil tilth with no-till. Stop by at the end of the week and I can get you a copy of the SARE cover crop publication which shows where certain crops will work the best. Another person to ask would be Jamie Scott at Peirceton, IN. By the way all we did was spread the cover crop with a fertilizer buggy and worked real well.
