ecmn | rye is a good natural weed killer, the organic guys are seeding rye in the fall and then no tilling beans into it in the spring, they roll the crop down and crimp it. they get a 30-60 day of weed suppression.
alfalfa is a good one to rotate in, if you can get a good establishment behind wheat, then run the field as hay for a year, then plow it down. what you spend in alfalfa you can take off your next corn crop inputs. some guys plow it down the next spring for green manure and dont take any crops off it. works good as well.
do research on green manure and talk to the organic people.
