Allows for an earlier harvest as posted. Also, if weeds are an issue, they get dried down. One more thing, is you can harvest later into the night on a swath if it gets damp in the evening. And of course......most of the swathing is done the further north you go......simply for the reason that if it snows early and stays, you can harvest the windrows in the spring. (Been there.....done it).
