West Central Alberta Coldest, wettest edge
I do know that farmers at the extreme north end of Alberta in the peace country are growing crops that we can't grow here in the west central, because they have more heat units due to the longer days, inspite of the shorter growing season. that would be about 500 miles further north. here, a crop seeded in mid July for swath grazing will germinate and grow nearly twice as fast as one seeded in early May due to the long days. We have seeded barley as late as the 30th of June and it made grain, it grows so much faster in the summer.
