Denmark | In 2007-2008 maltingbarley was 320 US$/ton here. There was very tight supply and the maltsters would buy almost any barley we had, no questions asked. Right now we can get about 120 US$/ton, and they only want top quality. Funny thing is the beer tastes just the same as in 2008!
Go to this website, click the different flags on the tree, and see and listen to what a Danish brewery has developed: The CLIM8 beer, brewed from barley without malting it. That means germination %, protein %, variety and other factors are parameters done away with. Any barley will work. And the CO2 emission from the brewing proces is lower. Hence the name and therefore it was introduced right before the COP 15 last December.
