Tenn Valley
First of All, congratulations on your new pivot. It certainly helps in maximizing profit for yields. One of the keys to getting the most out of your pivot is don't get behind, especially around peak bloom & boll fill. Next, determine what your soil perk rate is - set the pivot speed to apply what the soil will absorb/perk. Another point - with the extra water being applied during the summer, use of residual herbicides will keep the additional weeds for causing yield loss & harvest problems. Know when to cut your pivot off - in Sept. The crop will use very little water as it matures so realize what amount of water is in your soil "sponge". Enjoy this investment & management experience.
