Eastern Washington | I'm not in the Palouse, it's 60 miles or so east of me. Ya it's been unusually wet spring here lately. Most of the wheat will be winter soft white, but some will be a soft white spring, I imagine thats the differences in maturity you saw. The different crops could have been, peas, lentils, or garb's, all spring seeded, there is some of each around the Palouse. Not sure of the acres in the Palouse, it covers a pretty big area. Yields will vary with what part your in, the farther east you go the more rain it gets and yields more. 40-50 bushels in the western areas, up to 100+ in the eastern higher rainfall parts. | |
