Subject: Re: Weed ID [picture]

Sucker brook, NY
after the other carpetweed comments i went and got my book from school.

carpetweed leaves are spatulate (rounded above and tapered to the base), or oblanceolate (widest above the middle and tapering to the base). leaf surfaces are dull green, smooth pale beneath and pinkish brown tword the base.

common purslane leaves are spatulate. they are THICK AND FLESHY

thats about all the differences i can gather from your adult plant. find a seedling and the differences are greater, let it flower and youll be able to tell easily what it is, but i dont recommend letting it go in the field, bring one in the house for ID.
