Subject: pocket gophers

NE Colorado
Sounds like you have pocket gophers. We have them, too. We use strychnine treated milo bait to poison them, it has an attractant that smells like licorice.

We use a rod to probe around the mounds then pour a little bait in the hole, then press it shut. After awhile, it is pretty easy to find the tunnels by probing. We also use a tunnel builder to bait them mechanically. Sometimes I use half strychnine milo bait and half wheat bait which has a decoagulant. Seems to nail them pretty good but always have to go back and touch up, will never get rid of them completely.

I haven't used zinc phosphide so I don't know how well that works.
