NE Colorado | Sounds like you have pocket gophers. We have them, too. We use strychnine treated milo bait to poison them, it has an attractant that smells like licorice.
We use a rod to probe around the mounds then pour a little bait in the hole, then press it shut. After awhile, it is pretty easy to find the tunnels by probing. We also use a tunnel builder to bait them mechanically. Sometimes I use half strychnine milo bait and half wheat bait which has a decoagulant. Seems to nail them pretty good but always have to go back and touch up, will never get rid of them completely.
I haven't used zinc phosphide so I don't know how well that works. | |
