NW Washington | N-Serve works by killing off the soil microbes that convert the ammonia to a more plant available nitrate form of N. The ammonia is bonded to the soil particles and the nitrate is not and therefore it is more leachable.
What I wonder about the fact that the N-serve works in the small area where it is applied and that there are billions of these microbes in the soil that were not killed by this nasty stuff.
I suspect that the survivors just move in and get the job done and convert the ammonia to nitrate when the moisture and temperature are right. | |
