asphalt roofs here seem to last 10 years if your lucky....  looks wise your dreamin.      The only, and I repeat ONLY reason I can figure guys put em on is because it is the cheapest thing to throw up there.    Any church here with metal or wood shakes has lasted at minimum 5-7 times longer......for not quite twice the upfront cost.    Church I attended as a kid was torn down after 125 years with original shakes up top.

 Long story short, im not a fan of shingles, hate em............  One mans opinion, rest of my clan loves em, I realize Im in the minority.  

If this property is something you or your familly  will always own, put a metal roof or shakes up there, then let your grandkids kids worry about replacing it!
