Subject: auto differential lock on case ih 8950

DE
pulling 6 row strip tiller with solid wheel packer and 6 row planter on ground that had 3 bushel rye chopped for silage. Ground is dry and hard tires getting low on tread and with all that root mass it is pulling darn hard to the point that she wants to break traction and spin out. I have been using the auto differential lock and works great, it is preventing the spin outs. Question: is it safe to use it on a continuous basis or should it only be used on limited basis. In past with mechanical diff. locks, I have heard of horror stories of people pressing down on them with their foot while moving under heavy load and pushing the diff. apart. I have seen some unhook for that reason. With this one being electric rocker switch, I assume there is some type of hydraulic valve/clutch that engages the diff. lock??? A short education/lesson and opinions apprecitated.
