I suspect his advise is right for a very specific soil & climate type, but wortless for other conditions.

As a matter of fact this is very common among the learned authorities, It is understandable for those of us out here living in our own small universe, but no need for the Learned Elite to indulge.

Some seed company imported a grazing authority to give the major talk at a meeting, just west of here. The first words out of the poor sods mouth was they needed to use lime. Silly sod drove 100 miles through country covered with lime rocks on the surface and a solid lime rock base, just inches down.
