Subject: Seed treatment costs 50 lb vs 140000 units

SW MN and Gold Canyon AZ
We went to 140000 seed units this year. Something I never thought of is how would a dealer charge for seed treatment when each lot number has different weight bags. Used to be 50 lbs now it varies from 46 to 55 lbs in most cases.
So my question is how should a dealer charge out the treatment? A 55 lb bag takes more total treatment than a 46 lb bag. So there is more cost to the dealer with a heavier bag, less with a lighter bag, each having 140000 seeds.
You could charge by the lb, but then the farmer would have to pay more per unit on heavy lots
You could charge by the unit and the dealer eats the costs of the heavier bags hoping it averages out with the light ones
Any dealers that treat care to comment on how you are handling this???

Same thing could be said for trucking . The heavier lots cost more to truck because you can't put as many on per load.
