| You can break up surface compaction with the chisel, but there's still going to be subsoil compaction (deeper than a foot or so), which can only be cured with time (by means of freeze-thaw, biological activity, root penetration etc).
For those really "high-traffic" areas, you probably really can't do any more damage (with any implement) than whats already been done. Chiseling those areas to break up surface compaction can't hurt IMO. | |
