Central Ontario
We use to plant 30 ac a year with a 7000. This was 20 years ago now.

Used what I think was a sunflower finger unit. It had about half the number of fingers per unit and the tab that holds the seed was about half the size as the corn finger so each finger wouldn't grab multiple seeds.

As Hud said for a few acres the corn fingers would work. I don't recall what population we planted. Used every other row on a 30 " planter.

If you want an early season mechanical weed control secret go the Home Depot or similiar and by one of those 3 foot wide tow behind grass dethatchers that has the spring tine harrow teeth. After the pumpkins have emerged hook it on your ATV and run over the row and don't look back. Have to do this when the weeds are just root hairs.
