Subject: Re: field work in Western Canada

N East Sask, Canada
It's too cold to to germ here at these temps. Warmest day so far is 11.2C, freezing every nite. Forecast of two snow days Mon, Tues, and if any where it will happen here because we don't need it. Way too much risk to seed in April here. Last year May 5th seeded crop was 3 weeks before it emerged. That can not be good for vigor. The trees need to leave, then the frost is out. Fertilizing is fine, as soon as dry. I've been told rain is 6 months after hoar frost, that would be at harvest. We will see who is correct.
