If it is the plant described by JShelby, it would be scouring rush. Don't know an effective kill for it though. Worked on the Rail road and they didn't have an effective killer for it. I saw one time what they spryed with, don't remember everything they used but was quite a mixture. I looked it up one time, but can't remeber if it is a member of the rizome family.

Alan - looks like what you mentioned might be the same as I was referring too. Different names for the same plant.
