Subject: RE: The geese have headed north........

Independence OR
Yes, Goetze. We have a 1590 john deere drill. Both fields were also turbo tilled 2 times right in front of the drill. I have some that I didn't turbo till and I think the mortality is higher. As far as final yield will see at harvest time. I put 3 apps of slug bait on in NOV and Dec as well, but after the first of the year I have had very little slug problems. The particular field with the goose damage is very frustrating because the stand does look great and there really is not much I can do about it. We haze the field multiple times per day, but there are so many geese STILL in our area. We are located 1 mile from ankeny hill refuge and like 5 from basket slough refuge. What do you think about my N situation? I fertilized that bad field with 2 shots each at 60 lbs of N however the geese are continually eating it as fast as it grows, do you think I should put more on or not?
