West Kentucky | Trenton, remember that alot of these guys don't plant wheat behind corn. So what makes since in our neck of the woods does not make since in some of theirs. Your yield loss that you documented can be found almost every year. We normally start around 25%, but I would consider low 20's optimum if we lived in a perfect world. This year, the premium for early deliverd corn more then pay for the cost of drying 25% corn. It is an absolute no brainer if you have the ability to dry wheat to start earlier. The last two years we have averaged almost 7 bushel more double crop beans behind the wheat we dried versus behind the wheat we let field dry. | |
