Subject: RE: Beans back to beans

NW IL, Mercer County
White mold was a killer in our area last year. Some beans made 60+, some made <20. Sudden Death wasnt nearly as big of a problem but it was out there. Seemed bean maturities over a 3.0 took the brunt of the punishment. Some beans planted early (Mid-May) in '09 made it out alright. Other beans didnt. We didnt get our beans planted till 1st week of June. They ranged from a 2.9 - 3.4. Whole farm avg of 55. About a 5-6 bu increase vs check with a fungicide/insecticide @ R3.

I would probably plan on seed treated with fungicide/insecticide, and a planned trip of fungicide at R1-R3. Do not hesitate with a fungicide if weather conditions stay cool and wet. You will be money ahead especially with beans on beans.
