The problem could be, who is determaning how bad the damage is to the block and other componants? Most shops don't have the tools to give a good determination or experence . . . . Sending it out to a company who's main business is rebuilding and building engines, and they have all the tools to determan the extent of damage can make a difference in decisions on which way to go . . . .

Asking questions of the replacement componants goes along ways and I'd agree, I wouldn't want my slightly damaged engine exchanged for something that was in worse shape . .   so ask questions . .  . .
