I agree with Chad, I would suspect the product you are handling. We have 2 Feterl's and a landowner has one ... in fact the landowner's auger sounds just like the one you described. It has caused absolutely no problems. Well, other than the *(&^!! PTO coupler but I suspect that is not Feterl's design.
