| I am in NC Ok also and have been asking the same thing to many people in the know. My tissue tests in the early season always come back K deficient, and then correct later on. With this deficience early on, root developement is slowed. Foliar has only shown weak results, and down the row "snake oils" haven't proven anything yet, but trials have been limited. I am going to apply some (not sure how much yet) potash on the top of some heavy residue no-till here in a couple of weeks, and am going to leave a test strip. My soils are very clayey and shallow (red crap!!) but can raise decent corn if water is managed correctly. I am glad to know that I am not the only one thinking about this. Just hasn't been a common problem in the area, and my tests are pretty high in K. | |
