LHaag - 1/7/2010 11:12 Steve, I think rather a person should take a point sample or a grid cell composite depends upon how they are going to use the data. In my mind I only use the grid cells to make sure that sampling points are distributed across the field. I use a unaligned method, meaning that I lay cells out but my point sample location is selected at random from within each grid cell. The reason I do this is because if the data is to be used in any type of interpolation or kreging method you need point data at varying distances to each other.  Lucas

I used to think as you do, that samples taken at more of a random pattern were the better way to go. After researching the subject, I found that I was wrong.
