Subject: They Would Have Had More of Our Business...

Arva, Ontario

...had they not discontinued our main hybrid.

We are in the 100 day RM part of the world. DK51-43, a conventional was our backbone, and again this year was within a few bushels of the traited versions.

Yes, there is extra yield to the traited varieties, especially if you have stresses that these traits address, but the question is, "Is there extra value?" Our experience "here" is NO.

Ergo, we wanted the variety that gave US the best value, but the company decided to discontinue it, and furthermore doesn't seem to be releasing any non-traited material.

They are for sure not the only one - this is not a Monsanto slam, but at some point when the customer gets ignored in favour of the shareholder long enough, then no "New Marketing Program" will pull you out of it. We resigned from Pioneer after 29 years, so I have some clearer insight on this, I think.
