Michigan | They or the analysts do not attribute the losses to seed sales.
"Net sales fell 36% to $1.7 billion from $2.6 billion, primarily as a result of fewer glyphosate-based herbicide sales in Brazil and Europe. The company sells most of its herbicide under the Roundup brand name"
The decrease was for the quarter ending in November - the late harvest and delays in seed orders could also have had an impact.
I am sure they will do pretty good in the end - "Monsanto expects free cash flow for 2010 to range $900 million to $1 billion, including the after-tax cash effect from a restructuring charge of about $250 million". It may be a good time to buy some stock!
