Genoa, Nebraska | I think purchasing the "right" equipment can increase income. Case in point, owning a sprayer versus hiring all the spraying done. The real question is, what kind of sprayer? If a $10,000 sprayer can be bought and paid for, this will increase your income with a decrease in hired labor plus a possible increase in yields due to timeliness of application. However, if an operation that can cover all the acres with a 10,000 sprayer purchases a 100,000 sprayer, then it is a whole different ballgame. So I guess my answer would be purchasing the "right" machine for the job can definitely increase income. A lot also depends on financial situations and ability to carry risk. Each operation should be asking those questions of themselves, in my humble opinion. | |
